George Saliba
Chairman, President and CEO
Mr. George Saliba is the President and CEO of Saliba Technologies. Saliba is currently
leading the development of Technology & IP and providing consulting in the advanced
data storage and management products for various customers.
Prior to Saliba Technolgies, Saliba held the position of Vice President of Engineering,
General Manager and Chief Technology Officer at Quantum Corporation. Saliba joined
Quantum in 1994 as the primary DLT inventor from Digital Equipment Corporation and
led the explosive growth of the multi-billion dollar DLT business. As VP/GM and
CTO Saliba managed the Advanced Products Group and the corporate IP for over 12
years and was the primary inventor at Quantum Corporation leading the development
of multiple businesses and technologies for a number of successful product advancements
at Quantum Corporation including the GSS systems and Super DLTtape
TM.
Saliba’s career spans over 35 years in the data storage industry. Prior to Quantum,
he was the Senior Group Engineering Manager for Data storage products at Digital
Equipment Corporation. Saliba also held a variety of senior engineering management
and technical staff positions in developing state-of-the-art disk drives at Storage
Technology Corporation.
Saliba received numerous awards for his work. He was voted Quantum’s “Inventor of
the Year” for the years 1996 and 1998. For his many DLT inventions and innovations,
in 1997, he was awarded Quantum’s “Lifetime Achievement” Award.
Saliba holds over 83 US issued and 41 pending patents in the data storage
and system technologies including over 50 patents issued in the EU and JP and has
published extensively in various data storage fields.
Saliba earned BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of Colorado, and also holds
BT1 and BT2 degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ecole Des Arts et Sciences.
Demetri Lignos
Board Member
Following a 40 year career in the hi-tech industry, Mr. Lignos has been utilizing
his years of experience with magnetic and optical storage products, to consult with
various startup and established companies.
Prior to being a consultant, Mr. Lignos held the position of Vice President of Engineering
at InPhase Technologies Inc, a startup company in Longmont Colorado. InPhase Technologies
was incorporated in December 2000 to develop the word’s first holographic storage
product. Mr. Lignos joined the company in April of 2001 and remained with the company
until June of 2006. His duties at InPhase were to hire an engineering team and bring
this holographic optical technology product to market. At the time of his departure,
the engineering team had grown to over 40 people and had developed several working
prototype holographic drives which were used for demonstrations around the world.
As a member of the corporate executive staff, Mr. Lignos participated in all business
decisions affecting the company.
Mr. Lignos spent almost his entire 40 year career in the data storage industry.
Prior to InPhase Technologies and following a brief stay with Quantum Corp (following
Quantum acquisition of the storage group from Digital Equipment Corporation-DEC),
Mr. Lignos spent five years at Maxtor Corporation in Colorado as Vice President
of such diversified positions as Engineering Quality, Continuation Engineering and
New Products Introduction (NPI) groups. Over the last 18 months with Maxtor, Mr.
Lignos was asked to head Operations for the company’s new Network Attached Storage
systems group in California.
Mr. Lignos earned a BS degree from Muskingum College majoring in Physics and Math,
and an MSEE degree from the University of Toledo (Ohio). Mr. Lignos is also a graduate
of Athens College of Athens, Greece.
Bassam Saliba
Board Member
Bassam Saliba spent the last 20 years leading the design and development of large-scale,
complex, mission-critical systems. Bassam Saliba is currently the CEO of Equiom,
Inc., a consulting and technology incubation firm based in Bellevue, Washington.
Prior, Bassam was the VP of Engineering for Scalix Corporation. Before that, he
was the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Fidesic, where he pioneered an
electronic invoice presentment and payments (EIPP) platform. Before Fidesic, he
spent 10 years at Microsoft in various roles including the Group Manager for TransPoint,
a technology venture between Microsoft, Citibank, and First Data Corporation. Bassam
has 16 patents filed - 6 issued, and brings extensive experience in business and
technology, including strategy, architecture, design, development, and project management.
Bassam is an active investor and advisor to several startups, and serves on the board of several
firms including Balance Financial and Moprise.
Bassam holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder,
a M.S. in Software Engineering from Seattle University, and has completed the EPGC
program at Stanford University.
